The Give a kid a backpack foundation began in 2003 as a small effort to bring awareness about children in underdeveloped nations living and education conditions. By 2004 the foundation became a nonprofit organization. The foundation gathers backpacks filled with school supplies and hand delivers them face-to-face to poor children in underdeveloped nations. The foundation has a partnership with American Youth, as well as U.S. and foreign nonprofit organization. They believe that by providing these impoverished children with school supplies they can enrich their lives.
The give a kid a backpack foundation needs your cooperation in order to make this insight work!You can help by donating backpacks,school supplies, hygienic kits, and much more.You can collect backpacks or school supplies in schools, classrooms, churches, youth groups or civic groups.
Contents you can include in backpack:
- One Pair of Blunt Scissors
- Gently Used or New Backpack
- Twelve New #2 Pencils with Eraser
- One 12in Ruler
- Small Pencil Sharpener
- One Box of Colored Pencils
- Twelve New Pens
- 2 Folders w/ Inside Pockets
- One Zippered Pencil Bag
- One Box of Colored Pencils
- One large Eraser
- Self addressed Stamped envelope if you'd like to receive updates on the backpack delivery.
You can also engage in the "Create a Card" Program. Each card will be placed in a backpack. You can do this project within a school, youth group or civic group setting.
